Two other things that could contribute:
1. Is the status field a formula? If so, just because the status changes, the dynamic rule won't fire until the record is opened and fulfills the conditions.
2. Can someone be changing the status in grid edit mode? Dynamic rule won't fire in that case.

The Status field is a Drop Down and no, grid edit is disabled in this table. I have mentioned this table in several other posts. This form has more form rules than I care to admit due to the automation requested by the end user. Initially the last modified by and on fields were updated with an automation. I went with the form rules because the notifications were not triggering correctly.

When the record is saved.
and then you can add the condition.. and some field "has changed".

------------------------------- MarkShnier__Youif two users are editing the same record at the same time, and the user who is second to save will inadvertently change certain fields in a record to a non current value, the the system will open up a dialogue box with the user to resolve the conflicts, field by field.
As for slowing down the save, i don't know, but I believe that the the form rules run in the browser, and they will run quite fast. I highly doubt that you would be able to measure the difference, but you could copy the form and try to do a timing test.
