Dashboard buttons/links -- open in new window?

Can someone tell me how to make the URL links in the button or link widget open in a new window? Tried HTML target code without success. Surely QuickBase has accounted for this somehow? can't find in any documentation.

  • I've run into this problem too. For a work around, I've found two options.
I created an html page (buttons.html) and just wrote the html/javascript for the buttons and put it on the dashboard as a webpage.
Instead of buttons, if you use the Text widget, you can add a picture or text,  then highlight and choose to hyperlink it,  this will give you an option to open in another window.
  • Checking in to see if any updates here? I am looking to create a URL button that opens an external site in a new tab or window.

Right clicking and selecting "open in new window" is a work around but not a solution. This is a very basic element. Has this ever been resolved? We have new users to the system and training staff to click on some buttons and right click on others is inefficient at best.

This is the best current solution as posted above. I do agree it would be a nice enhancement to be able to set a button behaviour to open in new tab.
