It sounds like your reports are showing the same Child records and possibly the same fields. If that's the case, that's not an ideal setup.
If your users need to edit Child records via Grid Edit on the Parent AND you need to display multiple sets of Child records, I would encourage you to setup each report so that there is no overlap in the records displayed and all the fields that need to be edited are in the one report.
