I have not tested this and certainly not on all browsers but I have a feeling that most are all browsers self detect the presence of an email address and automatically make it into a link. So that would apply to email addresses and QuickBase as well.
If you really did not want to show us a link you could make a formula to separate the beginning of the email address from the domain by adding spaces.
