Excel like ""Value"" function

I have Field A, Field B and Field C which is the  result of concatenating Field A and Field B. ( All are text fields)  Is there an Excel like "Value" function so that I can get rid of Field A and Field B and Field C stays intact.

    When you have a formula field like a formula text field and change the field type to a text field, then the previously calculated value will the populated to the text field.  But then going forward, that field will be a text data entry field .....
