Field isn't being found by global app search

I have a field which I recently set up. It is a combined text summary field, if that matters. I'm finding that values from the field are searchable using the table-wide search (on the top right), but not when using the global app search or even when searching on reports. Is there a setting that controls this that I'm unaware of? How do I fix this issue?
