How do I move a set of records to a new table within an app

I have a very large table that I received a warning i am nearing limit for the table.   I am looking to move a large chunk of the records to another table within the same app to avoid filling the space on the current table.    How can I do this?   The only way I can think to do this is export to spreadsheet and then import the desired records to the new table.    is there an easier or automated way to do this?

  • Hi Shaun,

Another really handy option when you are looking to do a onetime or infrequent move of records from one table to another is to create a report that is set up to snag the records you are looking to move and in the more options for that table using the option to Copy these to another table, that option will copy over the records you chose in the report over to another table of your choice. Then you can remove the records you want to get rid of once they are saved. It isn't available right now in the new table reports (but slated to come very soon) so if you are doing it today you might just need to jump back to the old table reports to use the feature for a little bit longer.

Alternatively, if you want to set up a regular archive cadence QB Pipelines can be set up to regularly audit your tables and move records that meet certain criteria over to another table and then delete for you. This way you can automate that process, it just takes a bit of set up and creating the right filters for you. I hope that information is helpful Shaun.

  • It's your lucky day.  On the Table Home page under "More" there will be an option to Copy Table.  There is an checkbox to also copy the data.

You will get all the forms and fields and probably the reports as well.

Then on each table you can make a report of what you want deleted and use the "More" .. button again to "delete all records on this report".
