- QuickBaseCoachDQrew CaptainNo problem.
Just create a field of type file attachment. Then in edit mode Browse to you file location. When you save your file attachment goes up to the cloud.
There is a particular field property for the treatment if jpg format files on records if you want to experiment on it's effect.
Consider the number if previous versions of the file you want to retain. You can save file attachment space by changing that from 3 to 1 versions saved. That's a field property setup. - LauraThackerQrew CaptainStrongly recommend a separate table attached to your main table as a scalable way of managing File Attachments. If, for each "Project" (or main table record); you intend to have 3 File Attachments, but need more; you can simply add more records if they are stored in a child-table; rather than creating additional File Attachment fields. Users will only see the "latest" file attachment even if there are revisions in a single File Attachment Field.
- ArchiveUserQrew CaptainIf your camera is part of your phone or tablet, QuickBase makes it easy to upload the photos directly into QuickBase records. We recommend this approach for pictures that you want linked to information that people are entering into QuickBase.
- NateMcKinneyQrew CadetWhat if on the tablet it doesnt do that now?
- QuickBaseCoachDQrew CaptainI suggest putting in a support ticket saying that it works for you on other devices (assuming it does) but not on a surface pro. Maybe support has some devices they can test on.
- NateMcKinneyQrew CadetHow do i do that
- RedwoodKardonQrew TraineePlease explain how to upload jpegs directly from iPhone.
- QuickBaseCoachDQrew CaptainIf you have a file attachment field on a record and you edit the record it will let the user browse to their "camera roll". So first take the picture and then edit or add a record.
- RedwoodKardonQrew TraineeThanks! That works great...rk
- ArchiveUserQrew CaptainUploading and storing large documents to Quick-base is expensive. But you can use Amazon s3 storage which is very cheap and integrate your quickbase app with amazon storage using this utility called awss3qb. You can download it from http://jakurian.wix.com/newelsoft#!services/c1pna. This utility can be used in command line mode or in batch mode.
- ArchiveUserQrew CaptainThese instructions are too technical. 'field of type file attachment'? 'up to the cloud'? from my computer? to the db? 'number of previous versions'? 'field property setup'? Sorry, this isn't my field of expertise, but I have to use it, and I need help.

- ArchiveUserQrew CaptainIf you are an Administrator of QuickBase, then you would be able to go into the Settings of the Table where you want to upload file attachments and create a new field. The Field must have a Type - which in this case would be 'file attachment'. You can then set other characteristics about the Field to control how many files can be visible to Users in the field at any one time (1, 3 or unlimited revisions).
If you do not have Administrative permissions to make application changes, contact your Application Manager or Owner for support.
