I am not able to use custom report in dependent field.

Are you saying that Grid edit is not worming for you - is that what you are asking?  is the dependent field set to be the proxy for the field on which the relationship is based?

    Yes, Dependent field is set to be the proxy for the field and i can't show the active contracts in the record picker.. If this field is not dependent then, I am able to do that.. 

    Any ideas or another way of showing the records?
