I have a company table and a contact table. How do I link all contacts to related company automatically? Thank you!

I have a company table with all the company info, and I have another contact table with all the contact in each companies. How can I make the contact link to the assigned company automatically instead of going after each record and match them up manually?

  • Questions:
Was the Contacts table imported from another source?
Does the company name match exactly on the Contacts table and the Company table?
    How many Contacts are there?
On a going forward basis, will new Contacts be added manually, launched off the Company Record?
  • Thank you for your reply. Both the company table and contact table are imported from our own excel spreadsheet. The company name match exactly on the contacts table and the company table. (on our excel spreadsheet, company information and contact info is combined in one spreadsheet). and yes, in the future we will still need to launch both company info and contact info relate to the new companies into Quickbase system.
  • OK, next question Is there any kind of Unique ID available for the Customers, for example many computer systems use a Customer Number.  if not, then we will need to move forward with a solution based n the Customer Name field, which I try to avoid if at all possible.
  • Unfortunately, we do not have a unique ID for company name for now.
  • Well then your only solution is to make the Key field of the Companies table to be the Company name.  Then make the relationship to the Contacts be based on the Company name in the contacts record.

Can you explain how to do this. I'm in the same boat. I imported organizations and contacts separately into two different tables. I would like the contacts to appear in the form for organizations.
