Notifications not reaching intended recipients

Good afternoon, Quickbase world,

Asking this question before opening a full-on case review to see if anyone has ever seen this and may know how to correct it.

I have a person who needs to receive notification emails from multiple apps, and at this point, is receiving them from at least 2 apps. But a 3rd app she needs to get a notification email from, she never receives. We have checked her junk, deleted emails, etc, and she gets the other 2 just fine.

I have checked her email spelling, copied it directly from Outlook into the notification. I've checked all the settings of what causes the Notification to trigger, and have even put myself on the notification to receive it as a test and confirm that it sends.

I received the notification email, but she did not. Is there any other potential setting that could be blocking it from being received from this one app?

  • I had an issue where notifications that I set to come from a specific user were not getting delivered. I believe the SPF record was causing it to fail the validation(Although I haven't traced it through yet)
I just changed it back to to the default ([email protected]) for now
Someday I will have time to look into it further.

Yeah i just double checked that. It is set for default on all of them. Appreciate the idea.

    I would check these things:

    • Is the person a user in Quickbase?
    • Is the person in the correct role?
    • Do you have the email set to ignore permissions?

If the email from all the apps are very similar and sent in a short period of time within each other, maybe it's being blocked by a spam filter.

Often, though, issues like this are caused by tiny mistakes that are hard to spot if you've been looking at it a lot.

      • Is the person a user in Quickbase?
        • Yes, but that has never been a problem with Notifications. I send notifications to non-Quickbase users on apps daily
      • Do you have the email set to ignore permissions?
        • Not sure what you mean by this.

The set up for Quickbase user and non-Quickbase user can be different. There is a setting on emails to enforce or ignore permissions that the user has for their role. Just some things I would check if I was having the same issue.

If you checked absolutely everything you can think of and cannot identify any possible cause, then next best step may be to contact Quickbase support who can look and see if there is a bounce event or otherwise verify if the email is being sent and delivered, and if not, why.

The first point to check would be if the person has access to the rest of the app she isn't receiving the notifications. If that doesn't resolve it then try using the default notification email like mailto:[email protected]  and see if it works. If that doesn't work might be an issue within the notification system. I ain't sure if they've a limit of notifications.

She does have access to the rest of the app. But I have several others who do not have QB logins or roles, but can still receive the email about changes to dates, etc.
I also checked the default setting and it's the same on all the apps she is to receive from.
