Picking Related Master Record from Embedded Details Grid Edit Report

Hello everyone,

I feel I should know this, but something is not working. I am using conditional dropdown similar to what is described in online manual for Countries<Cities<Employees.

Additionally, I have a table for managing cities and employees, let's call it Manage C&M. This table is a master for both Cities and Employees, and its form has embedded reports from Cities and Employees tables.

Countries are picked automatically via formula fields

After I populate a list of Cities (and save changes), I move on to populate list of Employees without leaving the form. I would like to pick a related City from dropdown list using a proxy text field, which is in the embedded form. However, dropdown menu shows me City Record ID#.

What am I doing wrong?

    What do you seem to be saying is that the field(s) you were offering to allow the users to pick records is unsatisfying.
    If you go to the advanced properties of the table which holds the drop-down list, you will see a section there called the record picker fields.  These are the fields that get offered to users when they go to pick records. So you should be able to modify those choices to offer more appropriate fields to help your users pick records.

      Can I ask one more thing - is there any way to change default order of the dropdown list?

        yes, but the easiest way would be to go to settings, reports ands then at the top right, set defaults and then choose a default sort.
