Pictures uploaded to a "File attachment" filed reverting after update

Hello all.

I seemed to have run into a bug where pictures that I upload to a file attachment field are not saving updates. The files seem to update, but then the next day they will have reverted back to the original picture that was uploaded.

It is almost like the update is not saving. However, it is strange because the updates will show the same day, but the following day the picture will have reverted to the previous version.

Has anyone seen this bug before? Or know of a setting that might be causing this behavior?

Thanks

  • Hi John,

yes we identified this as a bug the other day and opened a support case with Quickbase and they confirmed this was an issue.
What we figured out was this...it is only happening when using the new table forms.  When using the old forms this issue doesn't exist.

So when you upload a file using the new forms, the next day the file will revert to the very first version that was uploaded.  You can recreate this if you want by uploading a file today using the new forms, then upload a few more revisions to the same file attachment field.  Tomorrow there will only be ONE version and it will be the very first one that was uploaded.

Pretty substantial issue if you are using the new forms.

      Thx Keith,

Is an interim solution to set the number of fields to be retained at 1?

      Keep the last 1

Then,  presumably,  there would not be any previous versions to revert to.

As a temporary solution, I simply deleted the entries in the table and created new ones with the updated pictures. The "Date Modified" and "Last Modified By" showed what was done today. So it should have nothing to revert to.

Not a permanent fix, and erases any of the history, but works for my situation for now.

  • Hi John,

This is interesting, thanks for posting.

We found a different problem with Attachment fields. We were cleaning up attachment versions by deleting them. We noticed a week later the deleted attachment versions had all returned.

Submitted a ticket to Quickbase #731473
