There is another one I will try to find that seemed to say that the ability for Quick Base to rotate depends on the size of the image uploaded.
If you are concerns about file attachment space (ie you know you will have a lot of pix) Juiced has an add on that loads the images to Amazon S3 and they have a viewer, maybe their viewer auto rotates, not sure.
