What you suggested is working beautifully but now I need a creative solution for confirming if each line in this embedded report that you helped me design above has a checkmark against a column called "Ready for processing." This checkbox field triggers a set of rules in the table and ensures that required fields are filled in etc. So I need each line in this embedded report to have a checkbox before they can continue to process the report and send it for approvals.
Any ideas of how I may achieve that?
So in the record above - Asset Capitalization request #27 has a number of assets that need to be capitalized - shown in the report to the right. You can see that I was playing with Line # and counting the number of checkboxes with "True" for "Ready for processing."
"Ready for approvals" in the 2nd section in the form should be editable only if each line in the report has "Ready for processing" checked. how do i confirm that?

You can make a summary field of the # of children and another summary field of the # of children ready for processing.
Then you can have a form rule that when the # of children is ready for processing is >0 and the # of children = # of children ready for processing, then allow Ready for Approvals to be editable.
Duh! I must have been tired last night. That's such a simple solution.

OK, great. I should have also mentioned of course that the summary fields will not see your data entry if it's being done In Grid Edit until the record (and hence its children in the grid edit data entry area) is saved.
