Thanks, Everett. That's a very intriguing post. Perhaps I can provide a bit more context about my issue. If you follow these steps in Firefox, you'll see what I mean.
- Save an image to your desktop.
- Open the image.
- Right-click copy the image
- Open a QB form that contains a rich text field
- Right-click in the rich text field. Choose the paste option.
- In the subsequent pop-up, cntrl-v (paste) the image.
- In Firefox, the image is pasted. Firefox base64 encodes the image in that pop-up.
- Note: I'm aware of the table space implications and have solved for them.
- In Chrome, nothing happens.
Because my users demand to be able to paste the image directly into the field (i.e. as opposed to entering a reference to an image) and because most of my users use Chrome, I need a way to make Chrome behave like Firefox when it comes to paste. I figured if I could intercept the paste action within that pop-up window, I could have Chrome run the code I need.
That being said, does what I'm saying seem feasible?
