If you use the method which I suggested to make a summary report and use that an an embedded report of the children in the parent Record form, then you will get exactly what you asked for as a result.
You need to create a report of type Summary, not a summary field.

This was a bit of a long thread so it's not super clear to me what your use case is. Why don't you go ahead and post a new question and I'll watch for it and respond there.
it will also be easier freely me to picture your used case if you use the real names of the tables involved for your parent and child records.
