Report Link Filtering

I'm trying to create a report link which dynamically filters by multiple criteria.

The intent is to have a report link, appearing on an RFP record, which shows Partners who perform the service(s) the RFP includes.  This was done when setting up the report link and specifying that the match be on the service (listed in the RFP and on the Partner record).

Now I want to filter the report further so that is only shows records where the Partner operates in the State where the RFP is issued.  Not seeing a clear way to do this.  Any suggestion is appreciated.

Thanks,
Jake

  • Can you tell us how the Partner Record identifies the State in which they operate?  Is the Partner listed twice if they do the service in two state?  Or does the Partner have some kind of list of States on a single Partner record

      Hi Mark,

The state's are associated via a many to many and are captured on the Partner record by a combined text look up. Does that help?

      Thanks

This can definitely done, one way or the other.

I'm going to make the assumption that the Partner record is in fact listed many times, once for each service and that is how you did the Report Link, by looking for an Exact Match in the Report Link settings.  If that assumption is not correct, then the following will not apply and we will need to go to Plan B.

        My suggestion is to:
        • Do a lookup from the Partner record down to the child states record of the Service.
        • Make a concatenated field in the format like Service-State.
        • Then make an additional combined text summary field of the [Service-State] up to Partners.
        • Then convert the combined text summary field to a text field type with a formula text field ToText([Service-State combined text]) called [Service-State (text format)]
        • On the RFP record make a field in the format [Service-State]
        • Lastly make a Report Link field on the RFP to match [Service-State] to the [Service-State (text format)] in the Partners Table.

  • Jake,

Could you include a diagram of the related tables and the fields for this report?
