OK, so you need to "get" relationships.
If you run a report of that reference field for [Related Date] it will be blank if it's just a data entry field because no one has populated it. So you need to populate it by using a formula or by defaulting it Today in the field settings and then updating all existing records to the date of the record using say grid edit.
I don't know how many existing records you have to know if grid edit is practical.
Do you have a ticket date field, or do you just have the native [Date Created] date / time field.
