Hi Lija,
What you are seeing is the native background color of the field which I have not found a way to hide. However, you can eliminate the border effect it produces by using transparent as the argument for the background color for your div. This is not an ideal solution, but it does provide a way to create a cleaner look when it is acceptable to use the default background.
I've attached a screenshot to illustrate what it looks like on the form and reports.
