Search Functionality based on Filters

Looking for a way to use filters as search criteria to submit a search.  I would like the user to pick the values in multiple fields (drop down) to submit a search result based on the fields they have entered.  Example:

Origin: Los Angeles
Destination: Hong Kong
Size: 40'

results show all records that pertain to the above parameters.  I'm trying to get this to work on my default dashboard.

    Origin is equal to _asktheuser_

    The variable _asktheuser_ should be provided in the drop down selection.

  • A dashboard report cannot have an <ask the user> filter, but you can link to a report that asks three questions.

    If the report does not prove an <ask the user> option for any filed(s), you can type that into the blank field.

    Where Origin is equal to <ask the user>

    I guess that's my only option.  I've set up the report to ask users for the fields that I want - that should work for now.  thanks for your help
