Share information among child tables

I've created an intake application.  The parent record is the common intake form.  From there a requester can solicit various work-groups (e.g. M&P, Comms), each being their own child table related to the common intake form (parent).  There's a lot of information shared between two of the child tables (M&Ps and Communications).  My clients want information from the Comm form to show on the M&P form if the parent record is the same.  Can you create a child-to-child relationship that share the same record?  Or, do you have to create a lot of summary fields from one relationship (Intake > Comm) and then pass that on through the other relationship (Intake > M&P)?

  • Hi Michael,

Another option if you just want the data to appear on the form itself is to use a report link type field. With report links you can pull in a report of records from another table that have some matching criteria. So in your instance from your M&P table you can match the M&P Related Parent field with the Related Parent field in your Comm table in your report link field and it will pull in a report of records that have a matching parent record id so long as they have them in common. You may just need to build a report to have the fields you want to show up in your report link field. I have linked the help doc on report links below and I certainly hope that helps.
