Just an update, I did open a support ticket and the response was fairly "cookie cutter" so far, such as clearing browser cache, etc. I plan to take Brian's advice and dig into it a bit on my end, but today the performance seems back to normal and no complaints from any of my users.

@Chris take a look at the A Tune-Up for your App: Getting the most out of Global App Search blog post from Brian Cafferelli who works at Quickbase. Even though it's a bit dated (10-31-2019) you'll find more info and walkthroughs.
Especially, take a look at the linked resource list at the end of the post.
