Summary field displays 0

I have a summary field in a parent table that displays as "0" in the record. The zero is a link to the drilldown report. When I click the link, the drilldown report correctly shows 36 related child records. Any idea why there would be a discrepancy between the count of related records and the drilldown report?

    The drill down will list all records which meet the filer criteria of the summary field.  So you may be adding up a dollar value or a total of some numeric field so the drill down will show all the record unless you filer where that something is not zero.  It won't change the summary total value, only what you drill down into.

      The drilldown doesn't show ALL the records, only the records related to the parent record. That's good.
      The summary count says 0-and it's not adding up a numeric field. 

      Here's the filter criteria of the summary field.
      • Choose a field from the "Snapshots" table: [blank]
      • Only summarize records where the following is true: [My criteria]
      • Function: Count
      I'm basically just trying to count the number of child records.
