This is great news. We've built several generations of our wrapper for the current API, and would like to have it simplified. I'm not sure if this is the place to make the following comments, but I hope they are useful...

- Are the designers considering issues like the date timestamp field formats? The binary timestamp is difficult to work with, and it would be useful if it could returned using one of the standard formats (iso 8601 for example).
- It would also be nice it the API provided an ability to download file attachments, and to determine what versions were available.
- It would be nice if the edit record api (or it's replacement) allowed for the code to specify both an input clist and an output clist (only available with importCsv) to allow the code to pick up values that may have been changed in formula fields without having to reread the record.

- The RESTful APIs offer machine readable, not human readable formatting for data. Meaning, we are solely returning and accepting ISO 8601. This abstracts away the confusion often found with timezones and formatting.
- We agree on the file attachments! APIs for file attachments will likely come this year.
- We added the parameter `clist` to API_AddRecord and API_EditRecord last year. So that is available in the XML API. For the new RESTful APIs, it is offered in the upsert like this.
