Use table contents as source for multi-select dropdown field in different table?

Is it possible to use table contents as source for multi-select dropdown field in different table?

For example, I have a Locations table and a Categories table in my app. In the Locations form, I want users to have the ability to add multiple categories from the Categories table (specifically a list of values from the Category Name field in the Categories table) to the Location record. The goal is more about defining categories than it is relating records. Is this possible?
