Hi Ben,
Take a look at this mobile application I setup. It solves exactly what you are looking for. I used my kitchen cabinet as a pallet and the stuff in it as my parts on the pallet. to use:
1 - install the pic2shop pro from apple store or google play. you will need to spend about 26 $$ one time purchase. It is worth it because you can use the app with many users you want
2 - use you camera to scan the barcode below
3 - enjoy, and reach out if need to customize accordingly.

I was not the one that posted about Pic2Pro but I do have the app and have tried it. Just try entering the URL that you want to execute and the use the word CODE where you want a data element inserted from the bar code scanned.
I have also had good success with generating a QR code and using the Kaspersky QR app. That seem to do an Amazing job of quickly grabbing the QR code at a "glance". But in that case the full URL will need to be embedded in the QR code. In my recent use case I was adding location updates to a line item on a job.
