Will changing text multiple choice options break formula's

I currently have a "status" field in my tasks table with the options being Active, Future, Complete, Cancelled.  My users requested I change Active to Assigned and add an in progress option. I am u...

It will break everything. 

You need to do this off hours. Then carefully walk down the Usage Tab on the field properties to fix every place it's used. 

I'm not actually sure if the usage tab can "see" the Usage on Automations.

Ugh that is what I was afraid of.  I will take a look at it...  What about converting the existing data?  Is there an easy way to do that?

    Converting is easy. 
    Run a report with records in Status Active.

    Then use use the "More" button to

    "search and replace" in this report 

    also remember it's free to make a duplicate of your app with data. Do you can have a back up and / or practice a bit first.

      Okay all done, thanks Mark!  It wasnt too bad, good call on the automations as they didnt pull in the usage tab.  Now hopefully everyone reports it is working as expected today :)
