I have two related questions!Someone suggested using grid edit reports on my forms for a more all-in-one parent-child editable comprehensive form. That's not working at least on my end -- has anyone had grid reports be available within a form?I'm reorganizing another section of my app for a division that hasn't moved over to my current setup yet. In their legacy setup, there is currently a one-form-fits-all, which requires many things based upon the service level they rendered. We're moving to a "Clients", "Cases", and "Service Calls" -- which means I no longer can require things at the Client or Case level based upon the extent of the service call..... is this just a trade off I have to make? I'm concerned people might not go back into the parent record and update with additional information as it's received in this new setup (and hence why the grid edit would honestly be a fabulous option -- bring the Service Call record right onto the master record and edit it all from there).
I have a pipeline which has a search step from a list of students. In the filter I want to include the names I want and not the entire list. SchoolName is xxx ANDStudent Name contains John OR Student name contains Michael ORStudent Name contains Joan OR.......they are 24how can I approach this using using advance filters
Hi,I am using a Project Status multiple choice dropdown field with the following options:Green - On TrackYellow - At RiskRed - Off TrackBlue - CompletePurple - On HoldBlack - CanceledSilver - ClosedI'd like to incorporate the Project Spotlight formula featured in Exchange so that the status displays in it corresponding color (while also keeping the text separate). I'm struggling with where to insert the formula and how to modify the formula to recognize my custom status values and colors noted above. I appreciate the help!
I have a bulk event-triggered pipeline firing whenever records are modified, leading to an Import to Quickbase step. The import stores current and previous field values on another table.Working on error handling for this import, I would like to log the attributes of the intended "change record" it was attempting to create, i.e. current and previous field values of the source record. If the error was an "import error" this is easy: I can access any of the target field values inside the `import_error.record` container. But if the error was a "mapping error" then it seems only the source's current fields are accessible through the `mapping_error.item` container, with apparently no metadata like previous field values.I don't think I can reference the original record in this context because it's a completely different object with a different index (since the import failures are obviously a subset of the original record set). So this leaves me without a way to store previous field values if t
I am attempting to store changes from a table to a dedicated "change records" table. There are a handful of specific fields I want to store changes for and I need to store both the new and previous values in these fields. So I have some complex filtering logic that can't be captured in the initial filter. At the same time, the source table can have hundreds or even thousands of records changed simultaneously or near-simultaneously, so I can't be making separate API calls for each change record to be created. And I need to be able to conditionally store a payload if the bulk creation step fails, so that I can rerun it manually/by another scheduled process. The native Bulk Upsert step does not allow for this if I'm not mistaken. For these reasons, I would like to trigger my pipeline off a bulk event, skip the default For pipeline step, and put all my filtering logic within a loop in my jinja expression for my (QB channel) Make Request step. I feel like this should be possible but I'm gett
The way I solve the following issue, doesn't feel like the best way. It seems like there should be a simpler solution. On my reports, often have scenarios where I have a user list field, and simply want a filter:If the [User List] includes the current user. This is not an option, so I end up making a formula list user field, that is: Touserlist(User())Then my filter is: If the [User List] includes the users in the field [Current User List].Is there an easier way?------------------------------Mike Tamoush------------------------------
Guys, seriously. Is QB on a speed-run to ruin the platform as fast as possible? I wake up today, and have dozens of complaints from users on the new system font that is harder to read that the previous one.Seriously, what was the point of this change?

Hi,I am building a pipeline to update a record that includes a User LIst field. I will be updating this field with single user and wanted to use Jinja:The "Help Text" below this field in the pipeline explains:"Comma-separated list of QuickBase User IDs. You can either assign same type list field or manually construct the comma-separated list using Jinja expression."I am not finding an example of how to construct this list in Jinja. Would appreciate help with the syntax. Thanks so much------------------------------Christine White------------------------------
I have a long standing table, Core Returns, that has a lot (too much, but just blame Admins long retired) of information. There is a field that gets filled in at a point well after the record is created, automatically, through updates. That part is working fine. I recently added another table, HVNE PO's, as part of a different project that does share some data with the older table. There is a reference to an 'Equipment' number. That number is the Primary key in the HVNE PO's table. I have it set where the HVNE PO's table is the parent table and Core Returns is the child table as that same equipment number can and does crop up in the Core Returns table multiple times. The Equipment number, however, does not necessarily exist in both places. The Goal is to allow a User to look from the Core Returns table and see if that Equipment number exists over in the HVNE PO's table. The users' decision about what to do next is impacted by t
Is there a way to Print the new forms yet? Would like to put a button on my legacy table on a record id to print that new form style that would show the .jpg of the attachment when printing. If not, is there an easy way to do this with a record that has 5-20 attachments when printing or emailing only?
Hi everyone,I'm running into an issue with embedded New Grid Edit reports on a form and wanted to see if others have experienced the same thing. When the parent form is in Edit mode, the embedded New Grid Edit report does not allow filtering or sorting. However, when the parent form is in View mode, the same embedded report does allow filtering and sorting. Is this an expected limitation of New Grid Edit reports, or is it a bug?My use case is that users need to select records from a potentially large list using inline editing (checkboxes). Without filters or search, they have to scroll through many records, which defeats much of the purpose of inline editing.Has anyone found a workaround or implemented a better pattern for this scenario? I'd really appreciate any suggestions or confirmation on whether this is simply a current product limitation. Thanks in advance!
What's wrong with this query format. I have checked all the values and I should be getting values other than zero.SumValues(GetRecords("{80.EX.'"&[Concate Distance]&"'}and{47.EX.'Shipping'}and {66.XEX.0}",[_DBID_DISTANCES]),66) If I don't have the "and' filters QB gives me the error"Uh-Oh! The way this formula is built will take too long to process. Please try refining your formula."
My app has a few different role, the main ones being admin and business. as of now the admin role is behaving exactly how i would expect it to, (i.e., records are read only based on certain flags) but the business role (the one the actually users will use) is not behaving the same way as it is allowing edits. I dont have any form rules at the role level, the tables used have no restrictions on which fields to modify. How can i get the business role to behave the same as admin so records are read only based on certain flags?
First let me say that I am new to developing Quickbase apps. Here is what I am trying to do and where I’m running into issues:My app tracks the entire demand lifecycle from draft/idea to a project. I have statuses like Draft, In Development, Under Review, and Approved (project pending) or Rejected/Canceled. I have created sections for Intake, Proposal, and Charter. At intake, all new demands have a separate intake form with basic information collected and the status defaults to Draft.Dashboard - When the demand is in Draft status, a “Start Proposal” button should be visible. When that button is clicked, the status is updated to “In Development” and the Proposal Section should appear, other sections should be hidden. I am trying to accomplish this by using a helper field (checkbox) and Dynamic Form Rules: If Start Proposal? Is checked and Status is “Draft” change value Status to value “In Development”, Change value Start Proposal? to unchecked. The same process app
It seems that if I create a pipeline, as it is my user token, only I can see the pipelines I have created. What is the best practice when you have multiple QB developers, all wanting to create pipelines? One person creates all...? I want other admin to be able to troubleshoot or update all pipelines. I guess this is not possible. How do other people handle this?------------------------------Michael Tamoush------------------------------
At Empower, we announced that grid reports are generally available in Quickbase. Judging by the response to Alice Rich and Nate Underwood’s session, “What’s New: Productivity Upgrades for Builders and End Users,” this update is already resonating with builders and admins. It’s easy to see why. Table reports are where a lot of daily work happens. Builders design apps, configure workflows, and connect data across teams, but end users still need a simple, fast way to review, update, and act on records. Grid reports are a big step forward in making that everyday experience easier, faster, and more familiar. Why grid reports matter There’s a reason spreadsheets are still the gold standard for working with data: people know how to use them. Grid reports bring that familiar, spreadsheet-like experience into Quickbase, so users can work with operationa
We are just beginning to play with the XL Docs extension. I've got a subtable that is populating data on sheet 2. When I generate the doc the data appears there as desired, but on sheet 1 we have a collection of formulas calculating things like % complete. The issue is any formula that is set to count or otherwise reference sheet 2 changes. Instead of referencing the column on sheet 2, as it does in the template, it breaks and we get a #REF! error. I can manually rebuild the formulas after generation, but at that point it would be faster to download a report of the desired data, then copy & paste into the sheet with working references.XL Docs shouldn't be doing anything at all to sheet 1, so why does it break the formulas there? The subtable on sheet 2 starts at row 2, so the headers are completely static.
We use QuickBase to review changes to requirements. Is there a way to allow us to format font in a field without applying the code to the entire field contents? (as below?)I want to demonstrate be able to show the user what has changed in the requirement clearly. In the past we have been able to format the font in excel and import it into the database but that is no longer working, and of course there is no way to format the font manually I'm unsure how to format the font manually.
In most of my applications, I have a set group of dedicated folks that can grant access when needed to various individuals. I recently discovered by viewing another person's app that they had the manage users option available to everyone, but you could only change it to the role you were in or below (the Admin role was hidden).I can't seem to figure out how to set this up and they don't remember how it was set that way. I can allow folks to manage users, or not manage users, I don't see a way to customize this.Any tips?
Hey Team!First post in the community, looking forward to seeing responses!Got a quirky question for your questing minds:I would like to set a grid table as the default value in a rich text field while still having the field be editable. We have internal customers who need a table to put in details regarding materials, like 4Cx6R, with headings on each column.Heading 1Heading 2Heading 3Heading 4 Is it possible to make a table the default value and still make the rich text field editable? Thanks!
Hey Qrew!Question for your expertise.I have a request from my userbase to create a number of pipelines to help transmit a request from one app to another. The gist is, when a request in system A meets certain criteria, that request needs to be submitted in system B or C. The pipeline will take the request details from system A and distribute them to the appropriate system. The roadblock I'm facing is that I have site (name, company, address, etc) and site contact (name, email, phone, etc) data that needs to be brought over from system A into B or C, but none of the record IDs match between these systems. So if I use the pipeline and pull site record ID 10 from system A, site record ID 10 will pull something completely different in B and C. I need either a translation layer in each system, or if there is a way to universalize without ruining existent data, I would prefer that.As always, your wisdom is appreciated!
Anyone who was at Empower26 will tell you it was a blast. Here are some of my boots-on-the-ground takeaways. Our Community Provides an Advantage I really enjoyed (because I'm biased) the times when the topic of the Community came up. I mean, who doesn't like to be seen? (Go us!) I regularly caught myself beaming with pride knowing what wonderful, brilliant people I get to work with. Only just today, TracyPrentiss from the training team, confided in me that attendees told her they felt a general sense of connectedness - like they could walk up to anyone and just strike up a conversation. We really have a rare and precious thing in our Qrew. There is an inherent generosity among our Qrew Members, who actively and enthusiastically invest in each other’s success. I have this multiple choice field which I am using as dynamic filter in a summary report but it still doesn't work because when I click it the summary report it spins and then displays empty records and then reloads all the data without filtering. How can I go about it to make a field to use as dynamic filter.
