That way people can't make orphaned Group Members by creating them one by one. Thanks! ------------------------------ Rachel Rachel ------------------------------ Re: create record + add child records in one stepNo, you are creating both parent and children in one step. You know how you can display a report with specific columns on the form and enable it to be editable in add and edit mode? I have that for the child records on my form in both add and edit. So the user fills out some detail about the parent record, then starts to fill in the child records. For example the parent is a Group and the child contains Group Members. The user wants to add group details and add members all in one step. If you go into edit mode in a Group and add multiple child records via the grid, QB is smart enough to automatically relate them to the parent. But if you do it when adding a new record, there's no Record ID# generated for the parent record yet, so the save fails. (Related Group is a required field for each Group Member). ------------------------------ Rachel Rachel ------------------------------ create record + add child records in one stepHello, Is there an easy way to set up a form so that when I click Save, it first creates the parent record, then creates the child records which are filled in a grid edit format and associates them with the parent? I'm running into issues because when the user tries to save the record, the required "related parent" field is blank and so the user is blocked from creating the child records. I feel like there must be a way around this with either automations or a formula button. ------------------------------ Rachel Rachel ------------------------------ RE: Introducing Pipelines - Webinar Q&ABy which security protocol are the calls transferred and is anything stored in pipelines servers? Will Pipelines be appropriate for transferring sensitive or PII data from one encrypted system to another? ------------------------------ Rachel Rachel ------------------------------ RE: Introducing Pipelines - Webinar Q&ADo you plan to support pipelines to Zendesk? ------------------------------ Rachel Rachel ------------------------------ Re: Trying to select employees from a rosterIt sounds like you want one employee to have many jobs. Is that how you set up the table-to-table relationship? From there, in the Jobs Roster table you should just add the field "Related Employee" (or whatever its called in your app) to your form or grid edit report and assign employees to jobs in that way. Does that help? ------------------------------ Rachel Rachel ------------------------------ Re: Composite Index for Quick Base Tableit worked now, and prevented the save. I must have needed to clear my cache or something. Thanks again! ------------------------------ Rachel Rachel ------------------------------ Re: Composite Index for Quick Base TableWell, shoot. It allowed me to save, but didn't do what I wanted. I was able to create a duplicate record and I cannot set the composite field as key. Is there a normal QB way to do composite indexes for a joining table? ------------------------------ Rachel Rachel ------------------------------ Re: Composite Index for Quick Base TableWhy, yes, now that you mention it! It looks like Related Ad Format was a lookup field. We had changed the key field for that table. I changed my formula to reference the key field instead, and now it works! Thank you! ------------------------------ Rachel Rachel ------------------------------ Re: Composite Index for Quick Base TableUpdate: I deleted the duplicate record and I still get the error. ------------------------------ Rachel Rachel ------------------------------
