I created this formula text field: Industry Relevance List using this formula: SearchAndReplace(ToText([Industry Relevance]),"; ","\n") This functions properly with the old style reports and old style forms, but with the new style forms and new style reports, it shows the text in a string. Thoughts on how to fix this? Thanks in advance! ------------------------------ Karen Henke ------------------------------ Re: Removing Add New button from table home page Hi! I have this exact setup in my app and it works great ... sometimes. I'm running into issues with dropdown lists - for example: Three tables - Customers, Work Orders, Products - User is viewing a customer record. - User clicks the "Create a new work order request" button which creates the related child record. In the New Work Order form, there is a dropdown list where the user needs to select the (related) product for the work order. In that related products list, they don't have the ability to add a new product if it isn't already listed in the product table. Is there a way around this? The column on the User Interface screen says "Hide Add Button/Links" which is disappointing. Is there a way to hide the button yet allow the user to create a related child record from the dropdown list? ------------------------------ Karen Henke ------------------------------ Re: Program Add button to view the record just added after saveTyler! Thank you!! I copied that URL formula from another field and it didn't even occur to me to notice what kind of Add button I was copying (palm to forehead). Ugh, I feel so silly - thank you again! I updated the formula and it is working perfectly now. ~k ------------------------------ Karen Henke ------------------------------ Program Add button to view the record just added after save Hello! I have a table of customers. Users are able to add customer records, but not edit them. Before they are able to add a new customer record, I want to 'force' them to search existing customer records to make sure they aren't creating a duplicate. If the customer record is found, they can select it to view the record. If the customer record is not found, they need to be able to add a new customer record. There may be a much easier way of doing this - and if so, please let me know - but this is how I have it set up right now.... I've set up a Search table and connected it to the Customers table. Customers = parent; Search = child. From our home page, the user clicks the Search customers button which opens a new Search record. They are presented with a dropdown list of Related Customer records where they can search for the customer they are looking for. If they select a customer from the list, they are shown related customer fields which will help them identify if this is the customer they were looking for or if they need to create a new customer record. Under those related customer fields is a question, "Is this the customer you were searching for?" with required yes/no response options. If they select yes, a button that launches that customer record is presented. If they select no, a button that launches a new customer record is presented. After they complete and save the new customer record, I want them to stay on the new Customer record (in view mode). This is the first formula I used for the add button: URLRoot() & "db/" & [_DBID_CUSTOMERS] & "?a=API_GenAddRecordForm"& "&z=" & Rurl() After searching the discussion forum, I removed the last bit in the hopes that it would keep me on the child record (the new Customer record), but this one also takes me back to the Parent record (in edit mode): URLRoot() & "db/" & [_DBID_CUSTOMERS] & "?a=API_GenAddRecordForm" Would love thoughts on how to update the formula so it works the way I need it to (or thoughts on how this process could be simplified :) ) Thank you! ------------------------------ Karen Henke ------------------------------ Conditional multi-select field based on values in another multi-select field?Hi - I've searched but can't find a similar use case to mine.... I have a multi-select text field where users can choose all of the products related to the content they are submitting. When we promote the content, we can only show 5 products max. So I need the user to tell me which 5 products to show. Right now, I have two fields: [Products All] and [Products to Promote] The response options in both fields are identical. The user selects up to 20 in the [Products All] field then selects the 5 they want to promote in the [Products to Promote] You would be amazed at how many people choose [Products to Promote] which they did not choose in [Products All] Is there a way to make the response options in the [Products to Promote] field mirror what the user has chosen in the [Products All] field (so they can choose their 5 products from this filtered list)? ------------------------------ Karen Henke ------------------------------ Re: Limit the times on Calendar reports?Does anyone know if this is possible yet? I can't seem to locate the UserVoice platform (the link in Evan's response no longer works). Thanks! ------------------------------ Karen Henke ------------------------------ Accurately count the non-English characters in a rich text field? Hello! I have a rich text field where the user can enter a marketing description. We are limited to 250 characters including spaces for this information. I have this field set up to accept a maximum of 250 characters. To help the user, I also have a field that counts the number of characters in the field. I'm running into an issue where any time the user enters non-English text, the character count is way off. For example, the German word "setzt" is counted as 149 characters. The Japanese word "ヘルプ" is counted as 146 characters. Is there something special I need to do with the formula to accurately count non-English characters? Thanks! ------------------------------ Karen Henke ------------------------------ Possible to make a field value bold within a text formula field?Hello, I have a field called Topic where the user provides the topic of a case study they would like to create with a customer. That text is inserted directly into this sentence: XYZ Company, Inc., and its affiliates ("XYZ") would like to create a story about Topic describing ACME's ("Participant") experiences with XYZ's technologies and services (the "Story"). Right now, the text above isn't anywhere on the form, so when the user fills in the topic, 99% of the time it doesn't make sense in the context of the sentence it is being inserted to. For example, someone might type "ACME started using our laptops and they are happy with them" which translates to: XYZ Company, Inc., and its affiliates ("XYZ") would like to create a story about ACME started using our laptops and they are happy with them describing ACME's ("Participant") experiences with XYZ's technologies and services (the "Story"). To help with this, I've created a field that provides a preview of what the sentence will look like once they type the topic. This is the Rich Text Formula field [Topic Preview]: "XYZ Company, Inc., and its affiliates (\"XYZ\") would like to create a story about "&[Topic]&" describing "&[Company]&"'s (\"Participant\") experiences with XYZ's technologies and services (the \"Story\")." It works perfectly, but it would be much more useful if I could highlight the topic that was inserted. I'd love to either make it bold or blue. Is there a way to make the topic bold (or another color) in the topic preview? If not, I'd love your thoughts on how I might achieve this another way? Thanks as always! ------------------------------ Karen Henke ------------------------------ Re: Set max number of responses to a multiselect text field Thank you Mark! I had to extent the count field to past 5 so it could count to greater than 5. Then I set up the rule as you suggested and it works great. ------------------------------ Karen Henke ------------------------------ Set max number of responses to a multiselect text field Hello! I have a field called Marketing Products which is a multiselect text field. I need to limit the number of responses the user can choose to 5. Is this possible? Thank you! ------------------------------ Karen Henke ------------------------------
