Thanks and yes, this does make sense.  So the issue that blocked my attempt to try this yesterday was the authentication issue.   I am checking in with our QB rep on a way to do this but if not, I will simply use a static image that links up to the app.  That will still work for the point of advertising our app on our intranet...
