Question about adding multiple child records using Focus Task table

In using the method described here:  http://www.quickbase.com/quickbase-blog/how-to-quickly-create-multiple-child-records-in-quickbase

The instructions state that the Focus Task table is created and uses a look up field for the Related Project, figure 5 in the instructions.  The instructions then go on to ask that you create one and only one record in the Focus Task table and that record has a Related Projects field of 1 which was manually entered.  Is the expectation that in order to use the functionality, a user would need to manually update the one record in the Focus Task table with the project id of the project where the button lives?  Is there an automated way to tie the created task to the current project using this method?

Thanks!

  • yes, you could make a URL formula button  on a project record to update that Focus task record  and then land the user on that Admin record.

Ok, thanks!  I was able to get it working.  I see it in the instructions now too, but didn't follow them at first:

In this formula, first you are setting a variable called SetFocus. This is a URL that will go to our single Focus record and change the Focus Related Project field to the Record ID of the current Project you are on. Make sure to change the &_fid_6 to whatever the actual field ID for Focus Related Project is in your table.
