Hi Jill,
Another option is to create a file attachments table as a child table, then that way you can have multiple documents under each record. That way for some records where you only need 1 or 2 you only create those records but for others where you have 10-20 documents you won't need to keep making more file attachment fields to hold them and have them floating around.

For sure if they see the need expanding beyond a couple of documents per record this is the way to go. Otherwise it gets really annoying to deal with.
