Will there eventually be an option to let us click anywhere again to view the record? or do we have to add code to get this feature back?

4 years agoMy understanding is that the goal is to get to "in line editing" which means being able to edit records while still in the report view and not having to go into Grid Edit. Hence when you click into a cell in the future it would just edit the cell. That is my understanding of why they took the click anywhere ability away.
If you did want a larger target for the users to click on, the you could make you own VIEW Button with a URL formula.

At the very least, I would want to be able to disable editing thru the report entirely.

Since it is likely that in line editing would not respect Dynamic Form Rules then presumably they would have to give us a way to control what is editable or if the report is that edible. Maybe there will something about this at EMPOWER, such as a chance to interact with the Product Engineers.

It will be running Tuesday, May 25 • Block 1 12:45–1:45 PM EDT (1:00H) and goes into where we are now, what happened in the last year, and takes a look at the future of the project. They typically also take questions so might be able to speak in more detail to what is next for table reports and how they are going to continue to refine the experience. There is still plenty of time to register for the event and if you can make it to the session join us (we also record sessions and have a channel on our public slack for follow up questions to sessions).
