Ability to create summary fields using Report Link instead of a relationship

Month<Hours>Projects
Month<Monthly Status>Projects

I have an app with the tables above:  Month and Projects are parents to Hours and Monthly Status.  I would like to total the hours per month for a project in the Monthly Status table and set up a report link between Monthly Status and hours using a text formula field I created  (Project&Month).  Is it possible to create summary fields based on this report link?

    A report link field will run any report. It does not allow summary fields.  But you can make a summary of the total hours using your first relationship and then you can look that up down to the Monthly Status table by a lookup on the 2nd Relationship.
