Add record from Grid Edit Dropdown?

I can confirm that what you are seeing is the behavior that is set up for Grid Edit, on the Grid Edit version of the report you don't have the option to access creating a new parent records like you do when adding a record on the form level. Typically at that point you would need to apply your changes to the Grid Edit report, go and add the parent record to the right table, and then go back to the Grid Edit to make use of the new company.

It sounds like being able to would be a help to your process right now. I would suggest adding that in as User Voice feedback for us. User Voice is a tool our product development teams use to track user interest in new features and enhancements to existing features. The Quick Base User voice can most easily be accessed from the My Apps page in Quick Base by clicking on the orange Feedback tab that appears on the right of the page or at http://quickbase.uservoice.com by signing in with your Quick Base credentials.
