Automation duplication

Hello,

I have created an automation that creates a new record with specific information when a specific field is populated in this case when a paydate is assigned to today or in the future , add a new record on the import page. 

What I am seeing is that everytime that paydate field is changed ie a date is added or deleted, the automation adds a new record in the import. The import is for our payroll system so we dont want duplicates and based on the format the record is in for the payroll system, its hard to pull out duplicates easily. 

Is there any way to prevent duplication or if x,y and z are the same to overwrite the data so that the automation edits the record instead of creating a new one?
