Can a reference field be a lookup field too in a relationship?

In an application, I have created a relationship. In field settings, the info of reference field is indicating that it is also a lookup field. I need this field as a reference field only. How can I achieve this ?

The Foreign Key Field will be the Record ID # of the parent record. You can set Associated Session Location as the Proxy so that it will behave like the Foreign Key field. In the child relationship, open the properties of the Foreign Key field (Parent's Record ID#)&nbsp;and set Associated Session Location as its proxy.

It is already selected but we are not able to remove the lookup section. Any idea?

Have you checked the Usage tab of that field.
