Change date filter from range to specific date

When you have a date column on a report, and select the filter icon, you are forced to enter a start and end date in order to filter that column. Is there any way you can force it to just accept a single date? I know I can set a report filter for an ask the user for that field, I'm seeking a way to disable the popup calendar that appears when just normal column filtering.
