Creating a Word Counter

I am trying to build a word counter and I found a partial solution here: https://getsatisfaction.com/quickbase/topics/how-do-i-add-a-word-count-function

However, in the section where it references some code, the website holding the code (pastie.org) is, as far as I can tell, permanently down. I tried to contact the script author with no luck.

Can anyone help me with this?

    Hello Carrie, 

    What this is referencing is called the IOL, or image on load technique.  This is a workaround that is used to automatically run js code within Quick Base.  This is not supported by quick base, but will solve your issue.  Your best option is to look at this link in the QB community on how to set up the IOL technique.  Then you would need to create the code page using javascript in a code page to count the words.  Again though, this is not supported by Quick Base and may not work in the future.  If it is something that is critical to your application, someone may know a different way, but I do not.
