Date-sensitive inventory tracking??

Hi all!

I'm loving QB so far, I've been building a job/event management app with inventory tracking and I'm running into a bit of a wall. We're an event planning firm, and what we need to be able to do is this: upon creating an event (Event A, let's say), the inventory items used for that event need to be removed from our general inventory from the Setup date of Event A to the Tear Down date of Event A, AND when another event planner creates an event (Event B) during that same time period as Event A (or in an overlapping time period) they can only propose the number of inventory items left in stock minus the items proposed for event A. That way, no items are double booked.

Any ideas? I have an inventory table and a pull list items (items reserved for an event, looks up to inventory items) table.

Thanks in advance!!!
  • Elena,
That is actually gong to be a difficult challenge for native Quick Base.  You may in fact need a non native solution here involving scripting.  I don't do that work myself, but I can recommend some Quick Base Solution Providers who probably can.  I can be reached through my website at QuickBaseCoach.com
  • That's what I'm hearing... Do you know of an already built app on the exchange that might have a good example of what I'm trying to accomplish here?
  • No, I highly doubt that there is a pre-built app that does inventory reservations by date.  i have been thinking about this puzzle It might be able to done natively (ie without script), but I would have to give it some thought and if there was a way, it would be too complicated to explain on this forum.  we would need to work one-on-one directly.
  • All right. Thank you, I'm actually in the process of working with a QB account manager to try and solve this, but thanks. It seems like there must be a rental company out there using QB that has this same exact need.
