Does a group's role take precedent over a user's role?

I have a case where a user has access to an app in an admin-level role to allow editing permissions but also in a group role to be included on notifications. It looks like the group's role is taking precedent, even though it's lower on the Roles page.

Does a group's role take precedent over a user's role, even if the group's role is lower in the Roles page?

I think that you will need a support ticket as someone will have to look at your app.

  • Have you tried inviting the user specifically into the app in the the required Role as opposed to just being in two groups.  I have sometimes had to do that to get the user to land on the correct dashboard.

She's not in two groups. She's in the app as as Admin individually and then also included in a group. Thanks, Mark!

If the issue with with form rules, you will need to tell us how you wrote the form rule.

  • It depends on two things. What Role the Group is in and where in the Role list both Roles are located. Precedence is towards the top.

    For example

    Participant
    Viewer

    vs

    Viewer
    Participant

In the top example Participant takes precedence. If the Group is added to the App as a Participant then it takes precedence over a User added to the app as a Viewer.

Roles are in App Home page - Settings - Roles.

    Hope that makes sense.

The User is in a role with Admin, Sharing permissions. The group is in a role with Basic permissions. The group's role is at the bottom, the user's second to the top. But the group role is taking precedent when it comes to text boxes being editable in a form.

The user can still perform the admin, sharing functions but there are a few text boxes that are read-only, which is a carry-over from the group role's permissions. It's weird.

Is the issue with form rules?  Form Rules have nothing to do with the sequence of the User's Roles.
