You won't able to get this type of functionality with native quickbase.
An alternative...Since the file is already in an email, froward that email to files@qbtext.com and it will insert a record into quickbase with the file in a file attachment field. Its not drag and drop but it does help with the work flow you mentioned. This can also be designed to edit an existing record instead of inserting a new one.
here is the demo app that the files are designed to go to right now when sent to this email address.

this can be reconfigured to integrate with your quickbase application.
