Dynamic Form Rule Based On a Derived (Summary) Field

I am trying to trigger a dynamic form rule based on the value of a summary field. Specifically, when the summary field hits 0, I want to change two fields in the parent record: "Status" (text field) and add a time stamp to "Review Date" (date/time field). Seems like a simple rule, but when I try it out and the summary field goes from non-zero to zero, nothing happens. Suggestions? I had assumed a change to a summary field could be a trigger, but maybe not.

  • Dynamic Form Rules only trigger when the record is being edited by a person and using that particular form.

Even patient and pipelines will only trigger when a record is being edited. They will not trigger when look up or summary fields change.

Your best bet would be to use a pipeline or an automation to trigger when the source of the summary field changes.  You would need to figure out how to coax that summary field onto the record that was actually changing so that the pipeline or automation and would know to Fire.
