Embedded Report Link - Cannot delete records when on certain forms

I'm not sure if I have discovered a glitch, or is simple operator error. I'm assuming/hoping for the latter.

I have a default form I use with many embedded report links. They all function in the typical fashion. If I select a record in one of the report links, the red 'Delete' option comes up.

I copied this form, and then redesigned it. Moved everything around, created new tabs etc. But didn't change anything else, just the layout. On this form, a number of my report links no longer give me a delete option when selecting records in the report link.

Is this a glitch, or is there a setting I am just missing?

Update: Realized this is part of a bug that already exists, I just happen to find out more about it. There is a known bug where if you have two report links on the same form that reference the same table, it wreaks havoc on the 'select record' then delete option. I have now further realized that the order you add the report links matters. Whatever report link I add second, is the one that does not perform correctly. Ill update my support ticket on this.

I have experienced this bug in the past when the same report link is referenced multiple times on the same form. I would recommend creating as many copies of the report link as you need on the form that you will be making changes to records with. Including grid edit/deleting.

      Justin,

I don't believe you even have the option of putting the same report link on one form. The glitch I have found exists when there are multiple report links on the same form with the same source and destination table. So creating copies yields the buggy result for me. I think it also wreaks havoc on the 'editable' report feature, as it creates orphans and doesn't auto select the related field.

Mike, did you actually duplicate the report link fields so they are two different fields?

  • As Mike pointed out in his Update this is part of an existing bug where two report links on the same form reference the same table.
