Field displaying Numerical instead of Company/Person name

Question

I have a field that is using a table for a drop down of a list of companies. When saved the company is displayed as a numbers. However, when that field in included in some reports, the field is alphabetical. I am sure this is a easy setting somewhere, but I cannot find it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Typically when you look at the relationship for that look up Field the Key Field on the left-hand of he relationship to your company table will be Record ID#, which of course is meaningless to your users. Go into the field properties for Related Company on your details side of that relationship and set the Proxy field to be Company Name.

Then use that Company Name field on all forms and all reports.
