Formula error: Expecting text but found number in numeric reference formula field

I have a numeric reference field with the following formula: [Pharmacy / Drug Shipping - Record ID#] And I'm receiving an error with the entire formula underlined in red stating "Expecting text ...

If the formula does save OK  and you are just referring to the yellow triangle warning in the formula editor, sometimes that formula editor is not 100% correct in its warnings, ie it may be a false alarm.
