Is there a way to make a record ""view only"" once the status is changed to approved
Is there a way to make a record "view only" once the status is changed to approved? -- I also would like the "view only" status to be for certain users.

No Problem,
In the Role for "certain users", set up a custom permission rule to be allowed to Modify when [Status] is not equal to "Approved".
In the Role for "certain users", set up a custom permission rule to be allowed to Modify when [Status] is not equal to "Approved".
