Linking Tables When Reference Field Already Exists

I imported two spreadsheets into two separate tables, Districts and Schools. Each District has a District ID field and each School Record also has a corresponding District ID field. There are multiple Schools in each District. How can I set up a relationship between the tables so the District draws in the related School Records? I would like to avoid linking them 1 by 1 seeing as there are 18K+ districts....

  • no problem,

Set the Key field of the District to be the [District ID] field.

Just make a relationship where 1 District has many Schools.

Quick Base will helpfully offer to make a new data entry field called [Related District] and if you want to do 18,000 manual edits and maintain them in purpetuity, you can accept that offer or else you can say no thanks, and select a field on your school record to use to make that connection. [District ID] would be an excellent choice.
